Silk Road Monitoring

Description: Built upon distributed oracle database, user interface was written on Visual Basic. Its purpose is tracking oil tanks movement from the moment of charging at oil refineries in various countries till discharging to port terminals and vice-versa. Operators on railroad stations, oil refineries and port terminals are responsible for monitoring and reflecting in local databases information about various events in oil tanks, trains and other objects lifetimes. After synchronizing this local databases with master database in Tbilisi HQ this information is available at all sites along railroad. For example after charging wagons at Ali-Bairamli in Azerbaijan,  attaching it to trains and sending them to Batumi, users in all stations before Batumi get icons on their monitors indicating that Train #XXXX with wagons are on the road and will pass them.  Full information about wagons and carried products are supplied through properties dialogs. System is fully customizable, that means, user can add or remove objects such as stations, oil refineries, terminals, products, shippers, product owners, routs and etc. Also because of distributed essence of its database system can be scaled up as much as communication capabilities allow (database synchronizing occur through any communication facilities available today - from intranet to internet and direct calls to server).
